I was 12 years old in 1976. There was peach orchard owned by "Old Man Pompa" I would often plink after Jr. High school was finished for the day. My buddy Rich & I would get our moms to open the safes and we'd grab our 22s for a couple hours and just go shoot. 22 rounds were less than a penny back then. Those 22s were just as simple as these ones. No camo or sophisticated optics. Just a friendly challenge: "Hey Rich, let's see who can hit that oval knot on that stump!"
Now don't get me wrong... there's certainly a place for camo, red-dots, threaded barrels, and 'take-down' mountain rifle editions. But all things considered, I still sell these models 5:1. So if you haven't already, get yourself a piece of very American tradition. It just doesn't get more simpler and practical than a Ruger 10/22. Shooting a knot in an 'ole tree stump has never been this good.
