Come meet Moby, my old and dear 1987 Volvo 240. If you want to be technical, you'll call it a 245 DL, but this is a 240 just the same. If you've ever had a Volvo 240 before, you are well aware that these cars have personality, yet are still built like a tank. A very, very safe tank. It is a vintage Volvo after all....
I've had Moby for a while now. A Volvo 240 was my absolute dream car to have, and after restless months of searching for the right one, I found this little guy on Craigslist, and it's been a little trooper since. I wanted this to be my daily driver, so that means this 240 has lots of new stuff:
It does have fresh spark plugs, spark plug wires, a new distributor cap, a shiny new water pump, a new alternator, a replaced air filter, a fresh oil change and oil filter, a rear passenger rotor, a new fuel line along with a fuel filter, all belts (yes, all of the important ones), and to top off the cake, it also has a new thermostat.
So yes, that means that Moby drives, and drives quite well, and has been a solid daily driver for me. I take this car absolutely everywhere around the valley. I take it to the top of the ridge, all over downtown (amazing turning radius!!), on relaxing evening drives, stressful freeway traffic, through rough weather and perfect weather, along with anything a daily driver needs to do; this car does just about anything, all while exceeding 20 miles to the gallon.
This 240 does have some nice features as well. It has a thoughtful mirror integrated into the glovebox, lumbar adjustments, excellent power steering, a handy overdrive button for steep hills, and a spot to put a backwards-facing seat in the back. It also comes with a Thule roof rack for added style and capability.
The car comes with the original dealership floor mats (weather mats also included), and it comes with the original owners manual and radio manual.
It's always been a non-smoker and it has a clean and clear title. These things are cake to work on, and the relaxed and comfortable driving style makes this car fit for anybody.
Yes, a 30 year old car definitely has quirks, so some things need attention. Nothing that gets in the way of being a good daily driver though. Feel free to ask about them.
Please reach out with any general questions about the car, or if you'd like to meet Moby or potentially become Moby's new owner, shoot me a call, text, or email anytime day or night; I'm eagerly waiting to reply to whatever questions you may have. Please leave a voicemail if a phone call isn't answered and I'll get back to you ASAP. I also love to chat with old Volvo enthusiasts in general, so feel free to say hello.
I'm only getting rid of this car to move on to my next 240 to see what personality a different one has to offer. I had a blast with this one, now I'm ready to go have a blast with another one. Volvo for life!
