This is a 1954 M1 Garand that was rebuilt in 1969 at Letter Kenney. I'm not an expert but I've been told that having such a late dated LEAD rebuild is fairly rare. I've seen some dated from the early to mid 60s but nothing after 65. Supposedly these sort of have their own collectors market.
But it's in amazing condition, I wasn't sure it had ever been fired because I couldn't find any of the typical fouling inside but a small amount of brass residue on the bolt says it's at least chambered a round. The wood is rich and in great condition, the parkerization has an even grayish green tint to it and is in remarkable condition. Comes with a sling and 100 ROUNDS OF AP with a few tracers as well.
Sold as a package, value is in the eye of the beholder with these things but considering the price of the AP rounds at around $1 a piece and the condition of the rifle, I'm asking $1450.
