Comments and Description:
* LeFever Hammerless SxS w/Damascus Barrel. SidePlate Model G 12GA.
This classic Side-by-Side shotgun is roughly 120 years old. It was purchased in 1904 and lovingly used and owned by my friend’s grandpa “C.E. Jones.” Its condition has been rated professionally at 60-65%. This one is a SxS 12GA Model G with a Damascus Steel barrel.
History: The Lefever was the first commercially successful hammerless double barrel shotgun made in USA. They were made in Syracuse, NY from 1885-1916, at which time the company was acquired by Ithaca Gun Company. About 72000 Lefever Model I, DS, H, G, F, E, D, C, B, & A (w/optional auto-ejector indicated ’E’ following the respective letter, if applicable) were manufactured between 1885-1916 (BBOGV, 37th Ed, pg 1184-1185). This one is a beauty. And its my personal belief that American shotguns of this nature and antiquity need to be preserved and cared-for in the right hands. I have it at iGuns store; and I’m motivated to help this Lefever make its way into some enthusiastic Idahoan’s care & collection. 975.00
