Up for sale is a MODEL 1842 HARPERS FERRY MUSKET. The Harpers Ferry 1842 Musket was a .69 caliber, smooth bore, percussion-fired firearm produced from 1844 to 1855 at the Harpers Ferry (and Springfield) armories, marking the first U.S. military arm with fully interchangeable, machine-made parts. It was the last U.S. smooth bore musket and saw extensive service in the Civil War, often loaded with "buck and ball" for greater effectiveness, and many were later rifled for improved accuracy This was my fathers and I do not know very many details about this piece. It looks complete and nothing was changed that I know of. I am asking $500 or best offer.
